No, it's nothing to do (sadly) with politicians opening their mouths and putting their foot in it. Not literally anyway, although some unkind persons may support the figurative notion.

Others might for their own reasons support a culling of the infected politician in the same way that they cull cattle, but whilst such a policy might serve to encourage others not to emulate the stricken, we do in theory already have a means whereby the electorate can cull the infected at the next election. Like all such policies however, it turns out that culling for whatever reason tends to be ineffective in controlling the disease and better methods must be sought.

It is of course necessary to identify the real cause of the problem if we want to effect a cure. 

In the case of politicians we are approaching the point where most people will be able to understand the essential mechanisms of the "deep state" via their controlled political parties. It's been going on a long time - the Bard himself noted that "All the world's a stage" (As You Like It).

In the case of Mad Cow Disease, it may no longer come as a surprise to note that the PCR Test is used and Prof Ferguson had a hand in the modelling that shaped the solution that is imposed ...

Yes, we've been here before.

Still, we can console ourselves that once all our beef cattle have been culled and burned thus releasing vast amounts of smoke and CO2 into the atmosphere and spelling financial ruin for the farmers, the cattle's bodily gaseous emissions will be eliminated, we can all eat insects, and the planet will have been saved ... I'm sure that Bill Gates is investing in his insect farms as we speak.

To answer the question posed by the title, we must first define that three letter word "God".

It is unsurprising that we have a great deal of difference of opinion/belief on the nature of "God" as put forward by the different religions, yet we pretend that these differences are trivial. Manifestly, they are not.

The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, has now published its report.

In addition to the definition of the above three letter word, some may need to redefine the meaning of phrases such as "self defence" and "human rights".

Do We Want "Property" or "Happiness"?

OK it's not either/or, it's possible to have both or neither. But it's the emphasis that counts. After all, property is merely a means to an and, and represents control over the thing that is one's property. That control may (or may not) bring a measure of improved happiness (having one's brolly to hand when it's raining cats and dogs) or may not (having it to hand when the sun is shining benevolently upon us).

So do we want property or happiness?

One is control over the physical, the (mostly) inanimate, the stuff we cannot take with us when we pass on to the greater or lesser glory after doing our stint.

The other is the fleeting, the ephemeral, indeed the spiritual attitude of Nirvana that we may perhaps take with us when we pass, and as such is clearly the greatest prize attainable in this earthly realm.

Search engines tend to give priority to the rock band of the same name, which perhaps confirms our suspicions about search engines ...

So why this morning's homily on the topic?

It turns out to be foundational to the Declaration of Independent America.

Get Your Teeth into This (If You Have Any Left)

A visit to the dentist isn't (let's face it) something to fill one with enthusiasm.

It rarely brightens the day, and occasionally comes with admonishments about brushing your teeth better, or bad news about needing unforeseen remedial work that (unless you have already purchased an insurance plan) will entail additional expense. 

So if you're lucky you get off with just a bill for the inspection, and if unlucky you get additional expensive appointments to use up your time and pecuniary resources (all of which involve levels of destruction from mild drilling to teeth pulling), with a possible helping of painful humiliation thrown in.

It is taken as axiomatic that they cannot make a poorly tooth healthy again, and some believe that root canal treatments are destructive of your body's electrical circuitry, possibly leading to cancer in organs on the affected meridian.

Nice work if you can get it ...

Your car gets a better deal at its annual service and MOT -- at least it can't feel the pain, the criticism, or the humiliation of having its bits replaced.

I don't entirely blame the dentists because it's how they have been trained to care. I do blame them for not thinking critically about why there isn't a better way. Was dental life really so bad before the dental regulators were invented? Dr Stephen Lin with his book "the Dental Diet" is the exception who did think about it, and I salute him.

But one book is merely a trickle, perhaps foreshadowing a greater flood incoming - read at your own risk ...
