This article needs to be read in quiet reflection. It has layers.

Be grateful that we (most of us) live in better circumstances. Perhaps in better times. Perhaps not.

Yet it has become clear that something else is active, a throw-back to past eras that (mostly) dares not operate in the open today, even though it is very visible if we are aware of its contradictions.

"You will know them by their fruits"

And they challenge us, and will challenge us, but perhaps indirectly.  After all, for evil to have its way requires only that those not directly affected let it happen. Slowly...  and then quickly.

The Family Courts in their current incarnation are a relatively recent innovation.

I don't recall that there was any great clamour for them, but one particular aspect of their operation is cause for concern:

"Courts in England and Wales have a principle of open justice where hearings are held in public but family courts are held in private because it has been felt that this protects children"

Thereby at a stroke defeating the age-old principle that "justice must be seen to be done".

Deaths? Which deaths? There are so many...

I could be talking about Gaza, Ukraine, Myanmar, or any other flash-spot around the world, I could be talking of the fentanyl crisis in the US, or I could be talking about our neighbour down the road in the UK.

Everywhere people are dying.

As they always do, mostly due to the encroaching frailty of advancing years. 

But not always, and particularly now.

Now they die from bombs, from "terrorism", from diseases that are suddenly virulent - measles in the US, cancers everywhere, heart failure in young age-groups previously unacquainted with heart disease.

Yet we do not react. We just shrug and get on with our lives. Heaven knows that remaining socially upright requires solvency, and that solvency is being attacked on many fronts just now, as it has been over the last half-decade.

OK, this site does not do party politics...   but maybe this once I might almost make an exception!

I'm not making any kind of recommendation here, but perhaps we might be cognisant of what is going on at the Runcorn and Helsby Constituency By-Election, where candidate Graham Moore is standing on behalf of the English Constitution Party.

Our current ruling elite has done a thorough job of pushing our ancient Constitution into the background (and under the bus) over past decades, and even Brexit hasn't resulted in its restoration to legal effect and national prominence, so perhaps we should be asking: "Why not?".

Now I'm sure that a perfectly respectable case could be made for a new constitutional settlement based upon Great Britain (England Wales and Scotland) or indeed on the United Kingdom as is (perhaps with minor tweaks for

Should we be worried that current events do seem to be following a similar trajectory to the events that led to the Great Depression of the 1930s and in turn into WW2?

Another item of news that a number (a large number) of people will hope will be eclipsed by the incoming global financial gyrations is brought to us by Zerohedge:

Billed as a take-down by Europol of a massive child pornography exploitation site, is this the first major salvo in the war against paedophilia, or is it just a passing flash in the pan that will recede quickly into the mists of oblivion that the main news media will make a point of not revisiting?

Oh dear - think how many names and card payments have been collected by the authorities over that period! I doubt they will be going to waste, unless the 'high authorities' can close the investigation down on some inappropriate pretext.

This article is written from the American perspective, but politics knows no national boundaries any longer.

As nobody has ever said to my knowledge, but it needs saying so I'll say it:

"Our Creator gave us the most extraordinarily capable organ between our ears, and it would therefore be the height of discourtesy not to use it"

Yet today's education establishments seem to go out of their way to discourage its use.

The tactic is presented as a Left vs Right issue, but that does a great disservice to the many - well, several at least - proponents of "the Left" (for example, Yanis Varoufakis) who assert that the Left should be the champions of the people, and who see no conflict between that ideal and the ideal that we should use our "God-given" gifts to the full to that purpose.

We have featured a number of articles on the topic of AI, notably as used by Martin Geddes to formulate his arguments more comprehensively than he would have been able to do unaided in the same time-frame.

If we recognise the limitations of AI, and use it accordingly for its analysis and presentation skills, then perhaps it can excel, yet if we expect it to exercise human judgement, we may be disappointed. It isn't a living breathing being with hard-fought life experience to match.

Autism - what is it, why is it?

We need action, but all we get is normalisation and B-S.

The problem is not that we need to be more understanding and supportive to the victims, the problem is that things have been, and still are, going from bad to worse and we get more victims every year.

What is "our NHS" doing about it? 

The same goes for dementia. We are bombarded with messaging these days to tell us to be more "dementia friendly", but is that not to (deliberately) confuse the disease with its victims, thus distracting us from the real problem?
