A thoughtful piece by Joanna Gray in the Daily Sceptic makes some excellent relevant points as well as educating us in matters sumptuary.
I confess I hadn't a clue about "sumptuary" so I'm guessing that you may be clueless also, but if not, well done!
The other excellent point brought out is that we are all human beings with more matters in common than matters that divide us, and the best way forward therefore is to attend to the matters that unite us whilst agreeing to live with those differences that divide us whilst those remain tolerable.
We are where we are and we are certainly more productive and consequently better off by working together than by arguing disagreeing and working against each other.
Parliamentarians excepted of course - they have shown themselves so deeply untrustworthy that Parliament may have to be abolished, at least in current form.
Although a debate on reviving the sumptuary laws might be diverting for while, and keep them from other mischief.
