The English are slow to rouse, but maybe we are starting to find out what we are now going to do, having been roused.
Certainly balaclavas are very un-English. We don't mask up as a rule in order to protest, but it does need to be noted that in the age of universal surveillance with cameras on every street corner, every mile of highway, and CCTV scanning every supermarket (although nobody ever "gets their collar felt" for pilfering, so work that one out), maybe protesters understandably now feel a need to respond appropriately.
"CJ Strachan" writing at length in the Daily Sceptic reviews the background history that has led us to this pass, and makes a goodly fist of spelling out the real crux of the problem - we have voted for immigration controls over many years, politicians have promised to reduce immigration over many years, yet have apparently been paying the French to send more illegal immigrants over the channel every year. Yes, nominally they are supposed to be preventing the dinghies from sailing, but not only do they keep coming but the invasion simply gathers pace every year. And we send the RNLI and "Border Force" to escort them in!

They are illegal, but get housed fed watered pocket money and phones rather than being sent back. What is the point of having laws that are not enforced?
Learned academics historians and political pundits can make all the excuses about why the existing laws and governance arrangements are unworkable and they are probably right, but we hear of no plans to fix the said laws and governance arrangements even though that is surely the responsibility of Parliament and the Government of the ministers of the Crown.
It's now impossible to avoid the perfectly obvious conclusion that we are being deliberately scammed by our own self-destructive government. So what do they - those nominally in government - expect us to do? Where is Oliver Cromwell when we need him?
