Brainwashing takes many forms, but the conscripting of major charitable institutions to the cause of wealth extraction from the population - if true - must be high on the list. How one wonders can the various cancer charities still be looking for that elusive cure after allegedly looking for it for the majority of my (not inconsiderable) lifetime? Are they looking in the wrong place? Every now and then some researcher or other announces that they are within a whisker of finding this holy grail - all they need is a mere few squillion quid extra and it will be with us in a around six months - only to fade into the oblivion of forgetfulness within the year.
And the salaries paid to the Chief Executives of such charities don't come cheap. If it's a real charity doing excellent work, why doesn't it recruit Chief Executives from recently retired charitably-inclined moguls of industry to work on an expenses-only basis? You would think they would be queuing up for the privilege.
So how much of the public's hard won contributions actually make it to the charity's front-line purposes?
Charities don't come any more prestigious than those operated by the United Nations on a global scale, and happily David Craig writing in the Daily Sceptic has crunched the numbers relevant to UNICEF's UK operations to find out. A charity for the benefit of children must be a good thing, right?
