It seems to me that the cultural war being waged world-wide right now boils down to this question - what direction will America take out of the current global conflicts, how will she navigate the information war that threatens to use the mid-term elections in November to up-end the Trump administration?
Who will end up on the "wrong side" of history?
Maybe "it's the economy, Stupid!". The countries with the genuinely free-enterprise productive economies will set the pace for everyone else to keep up with. Countries with innovative broadly-based productive economies who boast the minimum of top-down central direction (open or clandestine) will have the advantage over those with narrowly-based economies (eg: oil) because they will be vulnerable to innovations which bypass the need for their particular product.
That obviously rules out the UK under current establishment leadership, and pretty much all of the EU. And probably China under the CCP, which has the mind-set of a control-freak.
It also rules out America under its past clandestine rulers (think CIA-Mossad etc).
Only free enterprise economies which are the most productive will (a) have the wherewithal to prosecute a destructive war and (b) the incentive not to do so, because the resulting impoverishment would be (all else being equal) intolerable to the population. Any war would therefore tend to be defensive rather than offensive.
(I note that the term "free enterprise" has been hijacked to describe Wall Street and the City of London, in other words Big Corporations under opaque ownership that always seems to trace back via Black Rock, State Street, and Vanguard, i.e.: just another centralised top-down structure that values its invisibility, and gave us Covid and Big Pharma)
Madmen and Evil Empires excepted of course, but history indicates that these are short-lived when confronted by peaceful productivity.
So what direction will America take in the coming mid-term elections in November? She has a fight on her hands ...
