It's simple.
In a civilisation that inhabits an uncertain world, the supply of power makes the difference between carrying on almost as normal regardless of the salient ambient conditions, or having to keep shutting down because of them.
And for most practical purposes (especially in a world besotted by a completely irrational fear of "climate change") power means that delivered by wires. So our governments have simultaneously increased the loading on the grid whilst replacing reliable electricity generation with erratic wind and solar ... whilst also adding power-hungry AI data centres to the mix.
What could possibly go wrong?
What could possibly go right?
