The apparent murder in broad daylight of "evangelical Christian" Charlie Kirk has provoked a firestorm of emotions, conspiracy theories, political point-scoring, belief, disbelief, and general confusion.
As an Englishman observing the issue through the decidedly unreliable medium of my computer-screen, which habitually brings the comments of all and sundry from across the world right into my humble abode, I am in many ways spoilt, but mostly disadvantaged to the point of paralysis of analysis.
Do I really want to wade into this quagmire with both feet quite unfirmly under water?
So what are the salient facts?
In a word, unknowable.
Was it a genuine murder? Was it a sophisticated psy-op CIA style?
From the Heinz 57 varieties of "the truth" that are out there, I have no way to sort the sheep from the goats. I have my intuition and little else other than the confusion, and I'm not blessed with a direct line to the Almighty (at least not a line that I know how to handle).
Some think that this will prompt a much-longed-for Christian Revival whereby the Faithful will retake America (and the World!) by storm. I don't know, but that does seem to depend upon an unwarrantedly large helping of wishful thinking.
Some believe it (probably not without cause) to be a Psy-op, although the motivation is to say the least unclear (unless the perpetrators wanted to provoke a Christian Revival? How "Christian" would that be?).
Maybe the motivation will be revealed in due course, or maybe not - until then I'm in the "undecided open-minded" camp, and my world-view remains unaffected.
Cyntha Koeter of Fall of the Cabal fame expands upon the theme very nicely.
I wholeheartedly commend her deductions to my readers.
