Nigel Farage may be more of a journalist than a politician these days, but he's probably the only man in the UK who might actually command popular support across the board.

Here he talks more sense in 15 minutes than the whole of parliament has spoken in the last two years.

He is speaking in his role as a financial journalist (but he is also doing a great job on GB News).

"Our entire system of government needs a complete radical change - because nobody, but nobody, is ever held accountable for anything"

He nails it precisely in that one sentence.

(16 minutes)

We Cannot Afford to Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Brexit Watch is on the case, and a horrific case it is by any standards.

"We will thereby be confronted by failure on an epic scale, orchestrated by our expert class"

Quite so. This must be faced, and the accountability that Nigel reminds us is vanishingly elusive must be sought out and applied relentlessly. The damage done has been off the scale and cannot be swept beneath the rug any longer.

" ... it is very possible that the last two years will reveal our expert class to be anything but aloof, honest and competent. Quite the contrary"

It's not all who seek to evade their responsibilities. This is Lord Agnew, Treasury minister with responsibility for cross-government efficiency, resigning his position in the face of utter disinterest by the government in taking any action in respect of fraudulent pandemic claims.

A noble Lord indeed.
