Eugippius reminds us that one of primary benefits of the EU is that the unelected Commission gets to impose its will on member states.

And one of its wills is the energy transition, which will on no account be delayed.

And if that means the lights going out, then so be it. After all, minor inconveniences such as darkness and cold are obviously acceptable in order to "save the planet".

It's tempting to have a misguided chuckle at their expense, since we voted ourselves out of the EU almost 20 years ago. However, it turns out that we have the equivalent of the EU Commission in our own UK Parliament, now "independent" and, in likely denial of the electorate's wishes (they didn't ask us), hell-bent on supporting Ed Millibrain's dash for our very own legally mandated Net Zero by 2030.

(BTW: it being legally mandated, will our Ed be the one sent to prison when the much heralded and dubiously promised Net Zero doesn't come in on time?).

But I digress.

" ... it just doesn’t matter. In response to climatist hysteria, we are doing truly absurd things that would be very bad and that would make no sense even if everything the climatists said were true"

Eugippius relates the story for Germany.
