Baku, Azerbaijan hosts the COP29 meeting of the great and the good, although possibly not (according to our source) the brightest and the best.

Still, it's important for the Project that the man on the Clapham omnibus shouldn't feel too obliged to actually understand what goes on at such gatherings, because then he might get the impression that it's all a rather incompetent and ineffective snouts-in-the-trough kind of jamboree, and that would risk being counter-productive; so Baku being a long way away with no convenient transport links to Clapham is probably an ideal location for the venue, especially when we factor in the language problems.

Unhappily for the Project, doughty Canadian Dr John Robson took up the challenge of (a) actually getting there (all the way from Canada!) and (b) reviewing the turgid nonsense on display for our education, amusement, and downright horror that so much could be expended on achieving so little. That man deserves a medal.

Still, it could be worse, they might actually have demonstrated brilliant planning, ruthless competence, and unparalleled preparedness to inflict their daft designs upon an unprepared world, and where would we be then?

COPS and Robson.
