So Reform Will Be Elected - Then What?

If we think electing a new and untried political party is going to set the country to rights, then please take in this video and mark it well.

This is not party politics. We could elect any patriotic political party that is not Tory Labour Lib-Dem or Green, and they will face the same terrifying situation.

Our democracy is hogtied and powerless in the face of the disastrous "reforms" introduced primarily in the 1990s and embedded more deeply ever since, but the direction of travel was initiated back in the 1970s with our joining of what gradually over time morphed relentlessly into the bureaucracy that is the European Union.

Brexit gave us a necessary instruction to leave that bureaucracy, but that still leaves us to sort out our own bureaucratic monster that was bad enough in Mrs Thatcher's day ("Yes Minister") and is now much worse and seemingly in complete control.

We are fortunate indeed to have in David Starkey a historian who not only has a deep and comprehensive understanding of how our democratic institutions became hogtied and impotent, but is also capable of clearly and forcefully explaining how this came about, and indicating the vast scope and complexity of the plan that will be required in order to return effective powers to our constitutional democracy, in the teeth of the entrenched opposition and a quite possible economic catastrophe.

I have a feeling that half measures will neither cut it, nor come anywhere near what is needed.

No, it's not virology ...

... so right here we may have a title that isn't accurate. After all, if one speciality is founded on lies, should we be surprised if there are more?

Why am I not surprised?

After all, would it surprise us that those who specialise in matters of the mind would know exactly how spin us a yarn that we would believe, and allow them to make a great deal of money out of us in consequence?

Yes, that's a spectacularly unkind thought that most reasonable people would reject out of hand, but the time for uncritical acceptance of the pronouncements of the medical professions is well and truly now over.

The question should no longer be "is this particular speciality resting on bogus foundations?", but the question that now begs to be asked is "is there any medical speciality which is founded upon sound foundations?".
