Brainwashing takes many forms, but the conscripting of major charitable institutions to the cause of wealth extraction from the population - if true - must be high on the list.How one wonders can the various cancer charities still be looking for that elusive cure after allegedly looking for it for the majority of my (not inconsiderable) lifetime? Are they looking in the wrong place? Every now and then some researcher or other announces that they are within a whisker of finding this holy grail - all they need is a mere few squillion quid extra and it will be with us in a around six months - only to fade into the oblivion of forgetfulness within the year.

And the salaries paid to the Chief Executives of such charities don't come cheap. If it's a real charity doing excellent work, why doesn't it recruit Chief Executives from recently retired charitably-inclined moguls of industry to work on an expenses-only basis? You would think they would be queuing up for the privilege.

Our kind benevolent government, out of its boundless concern for our health and safety (not to mention the profitability of the folic acid industry) has mandated that we must all eat flour that has been "fortified" with folic acid, a synthetic additive that does not occur naturally in our food.

Not all foods have been / will be mandated to include it, which is just as well since there are some categories of people who are advised not to eat it. They can avoid it by eating foods that are not "fortified" to with it.

If they can find any...

I do hope that it isn't possible to develop an allergy to it. That could be rather inconvenient.

Of course we can always "go wild" and live in a remote forest off wild game and fish caught from our rivers, but there again it would no longer surprise me to find that our government is

I don't believe that these are protests against Islam specifically (although I'm sure there are plenty of miscreants who would like to so categorise these matters).

But they are certainly against what passes for our government for letting in - nay, welcoming - illegal immigrants of all descriptions and none (but strangely mostly young men) apparently indiscriminately.

One has to ask why we bother with immigration laws at all when we apparently fund the French to shepherd boatloads of illegal migrants across the channel. Of course we are told that we are funding them to stop the flow...  but the flow keeps on coming, so that's obviously untrue.

It has reached such heights of absurdity that something has got to give - our task is to make sure that it's our government that gives, rather than the peace.

Easy to say, harder to do.

Central government plans to "devolve powers" to Councils by merging District Councils (how does that work again?) are running into legal actions.

"Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Hampshire councils have set out their intention to launch judicial reviews, while Devon, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire have warned they may do so"

In my own county past efforts to save money by cooperation between neighbouring councils were abandoned - so I'm not convinced that central government have both thought through the practical implications, and decided on the amalgamations strictly on the basis of the benefits expected to accrue to residents.

The only mystery is why Russia has been so restrained in its response to the UK's seemingly never-ending supply of missiles to Ukraine for launching at Russia.

We have noted the UK's determination to provoke Russia previously. Scott Ritter even publicly described Zelenskyy as a British agent! And who can forget the abrupt termination of seemingly productive Ukraine-Russia negotiations immediately following Boris Johnson's visit to Kiev?

Will our leaders now get the message that they are playing with fire? Or do they want war with Russia, no doubt on the pretext that they have made an unprovoked attack on our entirely peaceable UK munitions factories...

Or might the Kremlin decide that the real enemy is deeply entrenched in London,

Brendon O'Connell is nothing if not fiercely independent.

I don't think he agrees with anybody, but he isn't following anybody else's line. So he brings something independent along with him (as far as anybody can tell these days anyway) so he is worth listening to, if you can follow his eclectic mix of AI produced video and his habit of hopping from one argument to another without much of a warning.

Still, he's good training for the independent viewer, with a style very different form almost everyone else.

It is widely agreed that science advances by the scientific method, whereby all are engaged  in the search for truth and theories stand until they fall, either to logic, or to experimentation, or to observed behaviour that improves or even disqualifies the theory.

Theories that stand the test of time gain wide acceptance but are not "proven" in the sense that they cannot possibly be improved by a better theory - that option is always recognised as a possibility.

For this process to succeed, scientists must challenge the status quo. Thus was Newton's theory of gravity displaced by maverick Albert Einstein's theories of relativity.

So one might deduce that the maverick who dares to challenge the status quo is indispensable to the advancement of true science. One might well be right, as this position is entirely logical.

Modern medicine isn't there for our benefit - it's there for the benefit of the medical industry.

Of course the medical industry needs to make a profit, but likewise the people who use its products need a cure. Somehow that last part gets marginalised, and the main marginalisers are the government regulators whose task is to regulate. The chain between patient and medical industry is controlled by governments of all shapes and sizes, and in private practice by insurance companies. Sometimes by both!

The patient's only control is his/her choice whether or not to use a medical product or take medical advice from the qualified experts. Because governments and insurance companies interpose themselves between between the patient and the medical professions, we the people pay through our taxes and insurance premiums whether or not we choose to take the advice and/or treatments on offer.

OK, this may be a conspiracy theory too far for the terminally blinkered, but given that most of the conspiracy theories of recent years / decades seem to have an unnerving habit of - if not coming true for everybody - at least gaining rather than losing ground...

And we have been here before, but for the laggards who have yet to embrace conspiracy world, it must be repeated lest we leave too many behind in delusion-land.

The prerequisite notion of course is that those in authority are quite capable of acting against the interests of the populace as a whole. If you can't accept this, even as a remote possibility, then you won't accept the rest.

Still, why this should be contentious is beyond me.
