Mike Yeadon on his Telegram Channel pulls up a couple of interesting articles that go to the heart of the factors that make a scamdemic possible - or in opposition, impossible.

First up - how they may likely have done it first time around, the 1918 Spanish Flu (and did much the same the Covid time around). At least we were (mostly) spared the spraying of poisonous substances everywhere (unless perhaps we lived in certain parts of China).

Secondly - how to avoid falling for it all. The number one attribute that parents and teachers must develop in our kids to equip them to spot and sidestep these pan-societal illusions with an appropriate degree of nonchalance.

With Ukraine facing defeat and Israel on the back foot after 70 years of expansion and sporadic conflict, Iran now takes centre stage of global geopolitics, as they have convincingly demonstrated the technical superiority of their weaponry over the Israelis.

Trump's proposed import tariffs are being leveraged by the need to stop this trade,  the precursors to fentanyl being reportedly sourced from Chinese factories.

The Chinese were on the receiving end of the original opium wars, prosecuted by the British, and others in their interests of trading Chinese tea silk etc not for the silver that the Chinese demanded, but for the opium grown by the British in India.

I've been featuring reports from various commentators over the past years, they have mostly been pointing toward ultimate defeat by Russia, and that direction has not yet been turned despite years of the West providing support and ever more capable munitions to the Ukraine. It has reportedly been a slaughter.

Well, the Buddha being unavailable to most, who better than Clif High to point up some intricacies of our spiritual existence that, whilst already very relevant to our earthly way of civilisation, may become of paramount importance when (no, I'm not saying "if") we come to encounter some form of alien life (or vice versa).

Clif does have a very logical way of explaining things which appeals to me, but I can understand that it may not appeal to those who don't gravitate to logical analysis, something that the unpractised may perceive as involving unwelcome brain-hurt.

The latter tend (it's a tendency, not an inviolate rule) to rely on their belief in their chosen sources of expertise/information, without necessarily bothering to check that these sources continue to deliver information that works. So a behavioural disconnect arises between continued action and continuing validity of action, because changes in the latter go unremarked. We've all been there!

The "dismal science".

When I was an undergraduate back in the...ies, we had to study economics. We had a huge tome devoted to the topic, and it was clear that if it was a "science" it was unlike any other.

Happily I don't think we were examined on it (except perhaps in the first year). You could probably have written what I learned on the back of an envelope (the internet would come later - much later). Not because I didn't read it (although I didn't read all of it by any means) but because it contained a great deal of what I considered "waffle", worthy neither of record nor of my time.

Now we understand that economics (unlike physics, although that too may be about to undergo a roots up revaluation/revelation... ) is dependent to a huge extent upon human psychology - and humans are not logical machines, but are driven by all sorts of factors, inclusive of irrational beliefs (as notoriously cultivated by wannabe dictators and cult leaders of all
