Our eloquent political commentator Andy the Gabby Cabbie tells it how he sees it.
Should we have a general election?
Is Andy Burnham, conveniently waiting in the wings, really a new broom? Was there no other suitable Labour MP already in Parliament?
In my view he's right to say that we have a Parliament that works for "the establishment" (whoever that may be). It doesn't work for the people, it works for whoever controls the political parties, by whatever means legal or otherwise.
And we now see in the "rape gangs" issue some of what that "otherwise" might entail.
Were any current MPs touched by the "Grooming Gangs" issue? Before we re-elect them, we need to know.
A general election isn't going to change that, it would simply delay the inevitable implosion.
"Britain can't be fixed with a reshuffle"
Quite so. Neither with another PM from the Fabian Society, nor with a new set of MPs elected from the same rotten pool of party-approved apparatchiks.
Short of a temporary military government to purge the establishment so we can know who is clean, and who is not, we seem to be out of options.
