Well, it's not me saying it (for a change), its Neil Oliver, writing for the Daily Sceptic.

"we find ourselves in unchartered territory where the systems that we have relied on to date are no longer entirely fit for purpose"

"The weight of evidence that something is not right and has been rotten for a long time has reached the point that many people can no longer pretend not to see it"

"Feeling politically homeless, sandwiched between two political parties that are no better than ‘two cheeks of the same arse’, is the place where increasing numbers find themselves"

As you may gather, his analysis is a exemplar of restraint.

His suggestions are also rather different from most I fancy, but none the worse for that - he has chosen as his basis a tried and tested European model that offers more safeguards than our current British system, and though it has to be remarked that there might well be many problems in trying to transplant it into the British Isles, and it would inevitably feel difficult initially in a nation that has spent decades learning to leave its politics to "political experts", it's hard to see how any new system of government by the people would be likely to avoid such problems.

A useful suggestion that should be welcomed.
