There is much that could be and will be said by many outlets, but I think that Mahyar Tousi makes relevant and positive points that should be in our minds on this historic occasion.

Her Majesty meant and means different things to different people, but it is appropriate to remember both the human, the national, and the ceremonial, and to salute her unfailing public good humour and stoical determination to fulfil her national duties throughout her long lifetime.

The family unit is the bedrock of our British civilisation, and indeed of virtually all civilisations throughout our world. It wouldn't even be too much of a stretch to include our world's mammalian and feathered animal life within the bounds of this statement!

The unique advantage of having a royal family as head of state is precisely that it elevates the traditional family to the highest esteem in the land, whatever our terminally woke citizenry may insist and regardless of the fact that a royal family may include black sheep just like other human families. In times past this notion would have seemed quite unremarkable, but today the traditional family is under attack as never before.

It also elevates our head of state above the politics of her parliaments and the legal judgements of her courts. This provides continuity, the huge value of which is too easy to overlook.

Of course the corollary is that a royal family has privileges which are not available to mere citizens, and this contradicts the notion that all are equal. Our world is not perfect.

It is also appropriate in these times to be grateful for her clear and unswerving public profession of her Christian faith, a faith which promotes personal service over personal aggrandisement, humility over hubris, cooperation over conflict. These are personal traits which many of our "elected" politicians and unelected public servants might do well to cultivate both in their public life and in private.

Also in her earlier years she was diligent in working on the UK's behalf, touring the world and meeting with innumerable foreign heads of state, cementing ties of friendship and of business. Perhaps the withdrawal of the Royal Yacht owed something to a feeling that some thought she had been too successful for their liking!

Now the unthinking might say that all that was just for show and she was so rich that it was simply an easy act, but that is an unworthy thought; whatever her motivation (which can only be guessed at) she unfailingly carried it through and maintained it as an integral part of her public persona.

Compared with other heads of state, in these important respects our nation, and indeed the world, has undoubtedly been blessed by her example.

Her Majesty has given us much for which we are grateful. She will be a very hard act to follow.
