  • Iraq War, WMDs, and Dr David Kelly's "Suicide"

    2023-06-30

Dr David Kelly was outed as a "source" for a BBC report (yes you read that right - how times change) that created doubt about the "dodgy" WMD dossier relied upon by Prime Minister Blair that led to the Iraq war.

He was later found dead, ruled a suicide, a verdict disputed by many.

"... there is no possibility that at an inquest a verdict other than suicide would be returned"

    Britain subsequently went to war.

    So that's it, right?

But who was the Chief Microbiologist at Porton Down?

  • Civil Peace in Russia

    2023-06-25

Well, that didn't last long did it?

All nicely tied up to Putin's undoubted satisfaction - game set and match I would suggest.

Can we believe what we are being told in the papers?

Russia weak, his generals outclassed, his defence minister out of his depth (Heavens above! - are we sure they aren't projecting too much from EU experience?).

One thing we really ought to have learned from recent years is that we can't take anything we are being told at face value.

"Did Putin bribe Prigozhin to back down?" was one headline I noticed this morning. That idea is just so risible I don't know were to start.

So let's look at it from a different point of view. Instead of thinking "East vs West" "Russia vs Ukraine"

    ...
  • Civil War in Russia?

    2023-06-24

Events are moving fast and it would appear that Wagner group leader Prigozhin has declared war on President Putin.

And has invaded Russia, apparently to march on Moscow.

    Unherd reports.

    Simplicius the Thinker reports.

All as clear as mud currently. It could all be an information war psy-op, although that seems unlikely.

Prigozhin is reported to be claiming that he is not abandoning the war in the Ukraine, although how he can wage two wars simultaneously against both NATO in the Ukraine and Putin in Russia is unclear to say the least. Unless he can get the Russian armed

  • Scott Ritter Spells out the Fate of the "NATO Suicide Mission"

    2023-06-23

It's been obvious for some time that this is no way to fight a war.

If you can't beat them, sue them - for peace. That should have been done long ago, and now Russia may be in no mood for negotiation because negotiation requires goodwill, and NATO has expended whatever it had in that regard as well as most other regards.

This is likely to be a fight to the finish unless NATO falls first (my viewpoint). If NATO falls, Ukraine will agree terms. Any terms.

"This offensive has no legitimate military objective - because you can't achieve it"

"You can't use the same formula that's already failed"

"What happens when they get annihilated?"

    "NATO will never beat Russia"

"We don't have the military capacity to defeat Russia in a

  • Ukraine Peace Talks Revisited

    2023-06-20

Redacted review the peace talks of yesteryear that followed the initial Russian limited military operation.

Mr Putin now confirms that agreement was reached at those talks... until UK prime minister Johnson visited Kiev and allegedly told Mr Zelenskyy not to finalize the peace.

If that is true, then Mr Johnson has hundreds of thousands of dead on his hands.

"... what am I being manipulated to not like... "

Propaganda and war are fundamentally inextricable.

None of this amounts to proof of anything, so it's back to our personal intuition.

    Intuit wisely.

  • Redacted Brings us Up to Date

    2023-06-11

Redacted cover a number of matters that I have not, for all sorts of reasons - but I'm happy to feature this episode as it updates us on several issues:

Ukraine attacks Belgorod in Russia (to what purpose we have to ask - how does shelling a civilian area further their war objectives?  Do they have ammunition to waste on civilians?),

    Tucker Carlson rides again,

Oxfam (whom we all thought was for relieving famine) strays decidedly off-message,

and Mel Gibson is up to some $34 billion thing.

  • Who Blew the Kakhovka Dam?

    2023-06-08

Speculation is rife, arguments and counter arguments are traded, but for informed analysis we turn to Scott Ritter, a man whose life has been immersed in geo-politics and the military - if he doesn't have an informed opinion, I don't know who has.

  • Brutal Analysis of American Foreign Adventures by a US Patriot

    2023-06-06

Ukraine will wake the Europeans (eventually) to the calamitous nature of America's foreign interventions (aided and abetted by UK and EU politicians).

This is a masterclass in the last three quarters century of history, covering the failings of our western corporate leaders, the seemingly limitless corruption of our western political classes, the dominance of the military-industrial complex, and the total failure of western leadership to manage the resulting mess.

All this, from Vietnam through Afghanistan, Kuwait, Irag, the Middle East, (not to mention Kosovo, Libya, and several others) and culminating now in the destruction in Ukraine, this two-part video reviews the historical record, how it came about, and whither it has led us.

The second part reviews the picture on the ground in the Ukraine, and how it may or may not develop - that topic has been covered already to some extent, and it hasn't turned against Russia's favour. Really, it adds a bit

  • Is Zelenskyy in League with Moscow?

    2023-06-05

Scotland Today reports on a conspiracy theory that is apparently under investigation in Kiev.

It's a brave bit of reporting, given that Volodymyr is such a central character in the Russo-Ukraine conflict that has proved so disastrous both for the Ukrainians and (to a lesser extent) for much of Europe.

If the case is proven, then the knock-on effects would potentially bring down a number of western governments... so I wouldn't expect this to be admitted publicly any time soon. We await developments.

  • "NATO Attacks Moscow" - Redacted

    2023-05-31

The latest developments in the Ukraine, following the fall of Bakhmut.

How deep does NATO involvement go?

UK and US politicians haven't exactly distanced themselves from the conflict at any time since it started, apparently believing (along with all our famously "independent" and "unbiased" and now unquestioning media) that negotiations with Russia to end it would not somehow be appropriate.

    2023-05-12

Imran Khan - at the centre of dispute and unrest in Pakistan - "arrested" - now "freed" by order of the Supreme Court - it's complicated...

Noteworthy comment from PM Rishi Sunak:

"The UK of course has a long-standing and close relationship with Pakistan... the arrest of the former prime minister is an internal matter for Pakistan - we support peace talks, democratic processes, and adherence to the rule of law... "

  • President Putin Marks Victory Day

    2023-05-09

Mr Putin commands perhaps the most competent and best armed military in the world, against which NATO seems determined to wage a proxy war in the Ukraine, apparently to the last Ukrainian standing -  and what then?

Even if you think Mr Putin a madman bent on world domination, your best advice is to "know thine enemy".

The BBC did report the event but presents merely selected quotes. So we have no hesitation in turning to Saudi "Al Arabia" (English subtitles) for his actual speech.
