It should be obvious even to Ed Millibrain that war in the Persian Gulf isn't going to do our energy supplies any favours.

Happily the worst of winter is probably behind us, but lack of fuel isn't going to be fixed any time soon by pouring more public money down the green subsidy pit, which is of course, like all subsidy pits, bottomless.

Now that the seasonally sunlit weather uplands (all right, the sun-obscured mist-lands of damp and yellow fruitlessness) are looming, the immediate seasonal pressures may be off, but so are the LNG supplies from Qatar.

It's probably too late to take the pressure off next winter by "drill baby, drill"ing in the North Sea, but better late than never - yet we still have Ed Sillibrain to get out of the way soonest.
