Migration Watch draws attention to the larger numbers of illegal migrants crossing the channel now that the weather is more clement.
You would think that illegal migrants would take steps to avoid the Border Force and disappear quietly into our green and pleasant land of promise . . . the reality is very different. Not for the first time, the French navy reportedly assist:
"BBC reporter Simon Jones described seeing a small boat with 12 people on board being followed by a French vessel until it reached UK waters"
where obligingly "the Border Force arrived about an hour later".
If this isn't a taxi service I don't know what is.
The Telegraph notes that once arrived these migrants are somewhat picky about their accommodation:
"The record numbers of illegal migrants expect to be moved quickly to their accommodation, says Border Force union"
Migration Watch tweets the truth of it.
Priti Patel (Home Secretary) is on the case doing everything in her power (short of actually deporting them and/or stopping them from crossing into British waters in the first place).
Here's an idea - if they aren't actually in immediate danger, meet them mid-channel, give them a bigger boat with a half-decent engine (if required) and just enough fuel for them to return to France, and send them on their way from mid-channel. No doubt if they notify the French Navy that escorted them out, they will ensure that they come to no harm.
Oh, and they will require a leaflet explaining how they should apply to legally enter the UK from France.
This will only stop when we stop it.
Conservative Woman, as so often, is on the case:
"As Alp Mehmet of Migration Watch has pointed out, the Conservative Party’s deployment of a points-based system equates to nothing more than smoke and mirrors"
Migration Watch notes the result in terms of the requirement for new homes in England:
"... just over half of extra homes needed in England by the early 2040s will be a result of immigration"
