The new bit is that there is a plan for yet more "pandemics" to follow - but that's been a reasonable assumption now for a while.

If you are relatively new to our site or you simply want a quick catch-up of how we got here, then you may well find it a half-hour well spent. You will probably learn something new.

Ford Motor Company in the US is hatching a substantial loss on its investment in electric vehicle company Rivian.

With sales stuttering due to chip supply shortages on top of limited range compared to traditional oil-fired vehicles, the automaker is struggling.

It's probably a little unfair to blame the problem entirely on the difference between carbon-based fuel and electric fuel at point of use, but since the overall Great Reset being pushed by the WEF-UN partnership covers the extermination of carbon, and the Covid lockdowns currently imposed on the Shanghai trade routes, as well as the general financial collapse, it certainly is reasonable to attribute a big slice of the blame to interference by world government in national policy and global supply

I have happy memories of the time that I spent in Shanghai in 2004/5/6 when my then employer set up a factory in Pudong, across the river from Shanghai.

Perhaps because I was a westerner,  I was always treated with respect and felt very safe, even to the point of using a bicycle to navigate my way around town, do my shopping and get to and from work (in all weathers). I well remember cycling back from a shopping trip when a crowded bus passed by with everyone shouting at me from the windows - slightly alarmed I stopped, to discover that my shopping bags had fallen of the back of the bike - I couldn't imagine any London bus passengers reacting in the same way!

Unlike the picture, today has been free of linear artificial clouds, at least in this corner of Hampshire, but it's the first such day for a while. 

The difference between real jet trails that are short and sweet because they evaporate, and the artificial trails that spread and disperse until they cover the whole sky has never been more obvious, perhaps because it has been rare to see them both together in the same sky. We do now, so that must be a step forward.

"I'm from the government and I'm here to help" was I believe identified by Ronald Reagan as a proposition that most of us might feel somewhat leery about.

Still, there seem to be very few areas of modern life that the government doesn't wish to assist us with, and crypto currencies which have hitherto managed to seem too distracted to be of interest are now deemed sufficiently significant to merit the Treasury's attention.

Naturally, since the main attraction of a crypto-currency is precisely that it is perceived to operate outside and independently of the purview of officialdom, the government proposes to rectify this attraction by launching an official stablecoin, that, being pegged in value to the official fiat currency, will permit government-controlled "stability and high regulatory standards" to benefit the UK financial markets (ie: you can buy and sell them through the regulated official intermediaries with all that that implies).

This slightly breathless report from the Hal Turner Radio Show notes that Russia is reported to have linked the rouble to gold at a rate that will have financial whizz-kids selling out of other currencies and buying into the rouble until the value of those currencies expressed as the purchasing power of gold matches the purchasing power of the rouble.

As they point out, this move may be unwelcome in western financial circles.

There will be a run on dollar/euro denominated assets such as bonds in favour of real assets such as property and gold-backed currencies. Unless governments move in to control foreign exchange transactions of course.
