The Guernsey General Election

Independence Daily reports on the recent General Election in Guernsey.
So what was special? Instead of casting one vote for a candidate standing in each individual constituency, each elector had a vote to cast for every candidate standing for their entire parliament, the Guernsey States.
That's like we in the UK having 650 votes each to cast to elect members of the House of Commons!
At least in Guernsey they only had 38 votes to cast.
As a model for a small parliament this is encouraging, but for a large parliament it would seem impossible to work.
Nevertheless, as the UK continues to suffer the results of our current parliamentary electoral system, it does highlight the thought that we should be able to think up a better way . . .
